Astralis vs Team Liquid

By far the two strongest teams at the major. These teams regularly met in the Grand Finals of various events throughout the past year, with Astralis taking every win except one.

Team Liquid looks stronger than ever. However, Astralis dominated their first day matchups, especially in a 16-0 victory against Cloud9 (who previously won 16-3 over MIBR). This could go either way but leans towards Astralis.

Prediction: Astralis 2-1

Renegades vs NaVi

Renegades have truly risen to the occasion at this CS:GO Major. Not only did they go 3-0 in the Challengers Stage, but they now stand 2-0 in the Legends Stage. However, they now face one of the absolute best teams in the world in NaVi.

Renegades’ win over FaZe Clan shows they can compete with the best. However, with a Best of 3 series, NaVi should have a stronger map pool and stronger performance.

Prediction: NaVi 2-1

MIBR vs Team Vitality

The first of the swing matches, both these teams are currently 1-1 and won’t advance or be eliminated by this matchup. They’ll also play Bo1 maps instead of Bo3s. Nonetheless, there’s still a lot on the line.

Vitality had a much better Day 1 performance with a 16-11 victory over BIG and close 25-22 loss to NaVi. While MIBR is the higher-rated team, they struggled to get above 3 rounds against Cloud9. This should be Vitality’s time to shine.

G2 Esports vs Cloud9

Two teams that have underperformed massively at the CS:GO major so far. This is another match which could easily go either way. However, Cloud9 have shown a little more urgency and should come out on top here.

FaZe Clan vs Ninjas in Pyjamas

Both of these teams are worldbeaters on their best days. NiP had two very close matchups on Day 1 with a win over NRG and loss against Team Liquid. However, FaZe is a much more consistent team. This could come down to the map pick but should favor FaZe.

AVANGAR vs HellRaisers

Two of the hardest teams to predict. AVANGAR had a strong 3-1 run in the Challengers Stage, whereas HellRaisers consistently seem to squeak through to the Champions Stage at Majors. However, AVANGAR seems like a much more cohesive team, and a 12-16 loss to Liquid on Day 1 is nothing to be ashamed of.

ENCE vs NRG

Two of the strongest teams in the Challengers Stage now look like two of the weakest in the Legends Stage. However, both are still very dangerous rosters and this should be a good matchup.

NRG is currently the #4 team in the world, although rankings can be deceiving. As solid as ENCE are, they may falter in a three map series against NRG.

BIG vs compLexity

Despite some poor performances from BIG, they still have a lot of potential. With the fragging power of players like XANTARES and tabseN and the leadership of gob b, they should be able to recuperate and move on.

While compLexity has soon good players, they haven’t shown too much at the tournament so far. Expect BIG to take two maps fast.
